Nike Free technology redefined running shoes when it debuted 10 years ago. Nowadays, the sneakers that feature it are just as commonly seen on the street as they are in the gym. Even though the Free series of sneakers, as them know them today, didn't hit store shelves until 2004, Nike's designers were toying with the idea of natural motion long before that.
